“A Kid’s Guide to America’s First Ladies”, by Kathleen Krull, is an amazing nonfiction book all about women who made a big difference and aren’t recognized for it. I was surprised at how addicting this book was. The book  had a lot of different facts that are super  interesting!

Did you know:

Martha Washington created her own remedies to treat her children’s diseases.

Five of our presidents didn’t have a First Lady and relied on another family member to fill the position.

Abigail Fillmore started  teaching at the age of 16. One of her prize students, Millard Fillmore, fell in love with her. They then got married.

I didn’t need Google or Siri to find these and many, many more facts about our country’s history. I just looked in this book. I would recommend “A Kid’s Guide America’s First Ladies” for ages 9-11.

I’d like to read that book because the first ladies weren’t recognized that much because they were woman. The first ladies might have done something great for the country but not weren’t thanked for it. This book should be read in school too so that kids can realize that first ladies are important too. 😀
