OMG! I just read a new book called “Unleashed,” by Gorman Korman.
I thought this book was very good and I recommend it for 5th to 8th graders. Even if you are not in these grades, you can still enjoy this fabulous book.
In the book, a dog named Luthor runs after the Exterminator’s truck every time it passes. Savanna, Luthor’s owner can’t stop him.
She’s tried everything. She’s tried fencing him in, locking him down in the basement and baby gating the whole house. Her parents are starting to resort to buying a shock collar. She would do anything to not have a single shock collar on Luthor’s neck, so she asks her friends for help.
Her friends Griffin Bing and Melissa Dukakis just so happen to enter in an invention contest and she asks Melissa to help. But, Amanda Benson, or her nickname, Pitch, is all against boys vs. girls and forces the three of them onto a team.
They all work together and create the Hover Handler, which creates a noise that only Luthor can hear and motions him away from the truck.
On the other hand, Griffin has been struggling with his invention. He was thinking of a quieter vacuum because when his vacuum is on, he can’t focus on his homework. All of his inventions either caught on fire, overheated, or drained power from the whole house. But, the vacuum stayed on. Griffin also had a lot of pressure to win because his dad is also an inventor.
A neighbor of their favor, Mr. Martindale, moved away and another man, Mr. Hartman, moved in. this new neighbor is so mean. They give him the nickname “Mr. Heartless.” The kids used to have a shortcut to school through Mr. Martindale’s yard. Mr. Hartman will not let them.
Oh Na! The Hover Handler has been stolen! Will the team ever got it back? Did Mr. Heartless steal the Hover Handler? What does Griffin’s strange and bad invention have to do with getting back the Hover Handler? Why is Luthor chasing after that truck?
These questions and many more will be answered after you read Unleashed by Gordon Korman! OMG! This book was fabulous!
