Do you love animals? Would you love to have a pet of your own? Do not go to a pet store to buy a pet. Go to a shelter.
Pet stores and pet shelters may seem like just a place to buy a dog. But they are more than that. When you buy a dog from a store, you are supporting puppy mills.
Puppy mills are cruel places that breed dogs. The puppies are sold to pet stores. There are too many unwanted dogs, but people are constantly breeding more of them. Don’t shop. Adopt.
Pet shelters are opposite. They find animals people can either no longer take care of or animals people have abandoned. Shelters are places that love the animals they take care of.
Shelters take animals of all ages, and, unlike puppy mills, they take care of the animals properly. Make the right choice.
If you want to go to a shelter, I know one that is perfect: Bobbi and the Strays is a dog and cat shelter. You can volunteer, donate, or participate in one of their fundraisers.
You can do many things to volunteer. You can clean the dogs’ cages, walk the dogs, or even read books to the cats. To find out more, visit http://www.bobbiandthestrays.org/how-to-help-2/volunteer
Please, don’t shop. Adopt!
I love your article. I just don’t appreciate it if people are being cruel to animals, because I want a pet myself. Now I really want to get out there and help some animals!
I agree with you because what puppy mills are doing is so sad. At first I didn’t know about this until I read this.
We have 8 pets, and all of them are adopted, and we’re thinking about adopting a dog! My family and I would go to a shelter, but they’re just to sad and if we go we’ll end up with a million dogs! I agree, you should adopt, not shop! Puppy Mills are so sad! How can anyone treat an adorable, puppy that way! I also love your article! I hope one day Puppy Mills stop, or treat the dogs better!
I love cats and dogs so to hear puppies and kittens are being hurt makes me sad.I have a dog named Teddy and a cat named Peaches so i love pets sorry if i wasted your time.
I’ve always loved dogs and I always ask my mom and dad for one. Unfortunately, I still don’t have one!
I like this article because I love animals I have a dog named Angus he is a Bull Mastiff. He is three years old we got him from a breeder in Pennsylvania. This is why I like this article.
I LOVE your post! Don’t shop ! Adopt! I like that you or if you worked with someone you guys care about nature / animals so much. Now I know that if I ever get a dog I’ll will try to get one from a pet shelter!
I do not like puppy mills being cruel to innocent dogs. I really want a dog but I am not sure if I should shop or adopt because I don’t know where any shelters are.
This post is great. I did not know about Puppy Mills until I read this. Don’t shop! Adopt. I have been asking my mom for a Pug, but she says no. She wants a Golden Lab. This is a nice post. Once again. Don’t shop! Adopt!
I totally agree that you should go to the shelter instead of buying them, but I don’t know what a puppy mill is.
This was an amazing article! This encourages people to make the right choice and adopt puppies/dogs. I adopted my dogs and I am glad to read this article knowing I made the right choice. Fantastic article! 😀 👍
Hello Hannah! My school is doing a fundraiser for this shelter. If anyone else reads this comment then I want you to know that donating to any animal shelter can save the lives of multiple animals. I love all articles that involve animals but this one really got my attention. Great job Hannah. Bye! 🙂
What a very interesting review. I never knew that puppy mills are cruel places. If I get a dog or cat, I won’t go to a pet store. If the money goes to such a cruel place, I don’t think i’d want to pay them. Thanks for the advice!
