The Girl Who Captured the Sun

The Girl Who Captured the Sun

The Girl Who Captured the Sun, written by L.B. Anne, tells a story of Sheena Meyer, a young girl who is a gleamer. A gleamer can see angels and can have many different powers, such as healing. Sheena finds out that the Murk, otherwise known as negative energy, is trying to kill the hope that is in every person, starting with her. She isn’t fighting the Murk on her own though. Her best friends Teddy and Chana are helping her. Along with her two best friends, she is also getting help from her family and other friends. In this book, the Murk makes various attempts to capture her and overpower her hope with negativity, using multiple forms such as Drake, a young man, and two teenage girls. Will she defeat the Murk once and for all? Will she save the world? Read the book to find out!

Sheena is an amazing character. She has just been told that she is a gleamer, and that she has to save the world! Sheena always debates on whether or not she wants to be a gleamer. Being a gleamer means you have to take risks, but it also means you can speak to angels and help people. Sheena wants her close friends and family to be safe, but she also wants to help everyone; as Anne writes, “After complaining so much about being a gleamer, it was finally gone. But now I just wanted it back.” Sheena’s debating about whether or not she wants to be a gleamer, makes her more relatable to the reader. This relatability makes the book much more enjoyable to read.

I think L.B. Anne is a very good writer. The Girl who Captured the Sun is definitely worth the read. You would want to read the first two books in the series before you read this one. This book can be rated a 9/10. L. B. Anne makes all her characters very relatable, and she also uses just the right amount of details to explain what is going on. The Girl who Captured the Sun will keep you in suspense and make you want to turn the page. It’s the type of book that will definitely want to make you pick up her next one.
